Best Jamaica Tallawahs Bet for 2021
Qais Ahmed to be CPL Top Bowler @ 10.0 with Betway
The CPL winner live cricket satta rates may well come down to who has the best spinners. Because with 33 games played at the same venue in St Kitts, those wickets are going to get pretty worn and by the end of it, they’ll be a spinners paradise with the ball turning, spitting, staying low, bouncing up and doing all manner of other devilish things.
So perfect conditions for someone like Qais Ahmed to thrive in.
The Afghanistan leg spinner, one of many they have in the Afghan side these days, may only be 21 but has already played 84 games of T20. His strike rate of 19 is pretty strong and despite his young age, this will be his third season in the CPL so he certainly knows what this league is all about.
He was pretty good in the recent Sri Lankan Premier League too, so it’s a case of him just getting better. Maybe good enough to be this season’s top bowler.
Here at Bet India we don’t just tell you what the best bets are, we also tell you where to place them. That’s so you get the best odds and the best all-round cricket betting experience. Among the recommended sites offering CPL betting are Betway, 10CRIC, Pure Win and Bollybet. At these sites, you’ll find the best odds available in India for Jamaica Tallawahs bets.
You will find everything from match-winner and toss odds all the way to more specialised bets such as top batsman betting and top bowler betting.

Historic performances in the CPL
With two wins in the CPL in 2013 (the inaugural edition) and 2016 the Tallawahs are one of only three sides to have won the competition. Only Trinbago with four wins and the Barbados Tridents, also with two, but with an extra final in there, have done better.
At the 2013 CPL, they beat Guyana after fine bowling performances from David Bernard (2-18 off 4) and Muttiah Muralitharan (0-13 off 4) helped them reduce the Amazon Warriors to just 128/5.
In response, Chris Gayle played an uncharacteristically contained innings, scoring 47 off 48, just what was required. Andre Russell’s brutal 33 off 18 making sure there would be no ‘death over nerves’ to deal with.
It was Jamaica v Guyana again in the 2016 final and this time round Jamaica were even more ruthless, dismissing their opponents for just 93. Spin twins Imad Wasim and Shakib Al-Hasan claimed five wickets between them, with Wasim’s 3-21 off 4 overs earning him the man-of-the-match award.
It was then down to Gayle again to get them home in the chase and his 54 off 27 made a mockery of Guyana’s score. But other than those two wins, the best they managed was a semi-final in 2020, so they’re not always that consistent.
Jamaica Tallawahs 2021 Squad
Andre Russell, Chris Green, Carlos Brathwaite, Rovman Powell, Haider Ali, Chadwick Walton, Fidel Edwards, Qais Ahmad, Jason Mohammed, Migael Pretorious, Kennar Lewis, Shamarh Brooks, Veerasammy Permaul, Abhijai Mansingh, Joshua James, Kirk McKenzie and Ryan Persaud.
Jamaica Tallawahs Likely XI
Walton, K Lewis, Brooks, Russell, Ali, Powell, Brathwaite, Edwards, Pretorius, Qais, Permaul.
Captain: Rovman Powell
Powell is unlikely to get too many more chances to add to his 67 appearances for the Windies across ODIs and T20Is.
In the likes of Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and Jason Holder, there are just too many all-rounders or middle-order batsmen too similar to him and just that little bit better than him.
He has admittedly batted quite low at times for the Windies but an average of just 18 with two fifties from 30 T20Is, tells its own story.
But if he’s not a star for the Windies, he certainly has been for Jamaica. A healthy strike rate of 128 shows he gets his runs quickly but it would be good for him to kick on a bit more often and get a few more fifties.
Bowls a bit as well and has been captain here since 2020.
Key Player: Shakib Al-Hasan
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a world-class rounder who always bowls his four accurate overs of economic spin, bats anywhere between 3 and 7 and is also a gun fielder?
In Shakib Al-Hasan that’s precisely what Jamaica have. Caribbean pitches will be perfect for his spin bowling and his experience of Bangladeshi conditions will also help his batting, where he likes to sweep and reverse sweep.
The problem with Sahkib has always been one of attitude, though he mostly saves his worst behaviour for when he plays for his country, rather than franchises.
This is a man who is almost definitely Bangladesh’s greatest-ever player.
Game-Changer: Andre Russell
Only one winner here. Perhaps only his Windies skipper Kieron Pollard, Rishabh Pant and arguably Glenn Maxwell can change a game on its head with the bat in a few overs the way Russell has over the years for Jamaica, KKR and the Windies.
A T20 career strike rate of 169 almost seems made up. He’s essentially scored 1.7 runs per ball throughout his domestic T20 career and has hit 24 fifties and two centuries at this level, often at his most destructive in the death overs and more often than not, in a chase.
The problem with Russell these days is he’s not the all-rounder he used to be. Batting isn’t a problem but he can only bowl occasionally and isn’t the fielder he once was, as a result of persistent injuries.
What Jamaica can’t do is bat him too low because they’ll miss out on his power; he should bat no lower than 5.
Barbados Tridents FAQs
Yes, twice. They won it in 2013 and then again in 2016, beating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final on both occasions.
Jamaica-born Gayle did indeed play for them between 2013 and 2019, is a two-time winner for them and their highest run scorer ever. But he was released at the end of the 2019 campaign and what followed was a series of outbursts from Gayle towards Ramnaresh Sarwan, the team’s assistant coach and a former team-mate of Gayle’s for the Windies. Gayle partly blamed Sarwan for his dismissal and labelled him a ‘snake’, ‘deceitful’ and ‘distrustful’.
Andre Russell has taken 58 wickets in 66 matches for Jamaica, making him their highest wicket-taker. Krishmar Santoke is next on 37.
Mostly at Sabina Park, the only Test match ground in Jamaica. They do however also occasionally play at Central Broward Regional Park in Florida.
Trinbago Fast and Fun Facts
- Hollywood star Gerard Butler owns part of the franchise.
- Had disastrous seasons in 2019 and 2020, winning just 20% and 27% of their games respectively.
- Chris Gayle is their highest run scorer by some distance with 1695 runs, having played there between 2013-19. But Gayle left the franchise on bad terms after a bitter dispute with Assistant Coach Ramnaresh Sarwan, a long-term Windies ex-teammate of his.
- Andre Russell is both second on the highest run scorer charts (1331) for Jamaica and top of the wicket-takers, with 58.
What we like about Jamaica Tallawahs
- Lower-middle order of Russell, Powell and Brathwaite has some serious power.
- Shakib, Russell and Brathwaite are world-class all-rounders giving the side great balance.
- No shortage of bowling options.
What we don’t like about Jamaica Tallawahs
- Too many overseas players with limited experience of the CPL.
- Rovman Powell is not proven as a captain in the CPL.
- Not great local players with only Andre Russell a regular in the Windies team.
