Best St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Bet for 2021
Dwayne Bravo to be CPL Top Bowler @ 11.0 with Betway
At the end of yet another title-winning season with Trinbago Knight Riders in 2020, Bravo was traded to St Kitts as both sides looked to make a few changes in order to improve the balance of their side.
It’s worth pointing out that this was no reflection of Bravo’s ability. His fielding isn’t quite what it used to be and you get the feeling he doesn’t take his batting too seriously these days.
But his bowling is pretty much as good as ever. Admittedly, he didn’t take quite as many wickets the last couple of years as he would have liked but then again, he also missed a full season.
Last year he not only became the first bowler to take 500 wickets but also the first bowler to 100 CPL wickets. His 532 T20 career wickets are over 100 more than anyone else (Imran Tahir next best with 407) while his CPL strike rate of 15.35 is truly brilliant.
There’s a theory that spinners will profit the most on worn wickets at St Kitts given the whole tournament will be played there. But there’s also something to be said for a medium pace bowler like Bravo, who bowls lots of slower balls and cutters.
We’re going to give you all the analysis, pitch reports, team news and best betting tips ahead of all the Saint Kitts and Nevis’ games. And we’re also going to tell you at which betting sites you can place your bets at the highest odds for CPL betting in India!

Historic performances in the CPL
With just the one final to show for their efforts, St Kitts are one of the least successful sides in the CPL’s history. However, it should be remembered that they didn’t play the first two editions of it, given they were only formed in 2015.
That one final they played in 2017 was against the Trinbago Knight Riders, where a poor effort with the bat cost them dearly. Carlos Brathwaite was their top run scorer on the day with 30, as they managed just 135/6.
They’ll have been kicking themselves about not having got another 15 or 20 runs more because on that wicket, 150 would have been very competitive. Trinbago made a bit of a meal of the run chase and in the end were thankful for a quickfire 29 off 14 from number nine batsman Kevon Cooper to get them home.
In other seasons they finished sixth in the Group Stages twice. They also finished third in one season, and fourth in another. It’s been a struggle for them and those who have been put faith in them through the online cricket satta bazar have not won much over the years.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 2021 Squad
Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Ravi Bopara, Paul van Meekeren, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Fawad Ahmed, Devon Thomas, Rayad Emrit, Asif Ali, Colin Archibald, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Dominic Drakes, Joshua da Silva and Mikyle Louis.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Likely XI
Lewis, Gayle, Da Silva, Rutherford, Bopara, Allen, Bravo, Emrit, Cottrell, Jaggesar, Ahmed.
Captain: Rayad Emrit
Emrit never really got a fair crack of the whip in terms of playing for the Windies but he’s had a long and successful domestic career. In T20 cricket he averages over a wicket a game and though his economy rate isn’t brilliant at 7.59 an over, it’s not too bad, either.
As a bowling all-rounder, he doesn’t tend to bat particularly high and just the one 50 from 146 games at an average of 12 suggests he’s not going to win you many games with the bat.
But he’s experienced enough, knows the CPL well and is the right man to lead the side.
Key Player: Fabian Allen
We’re big Fabian Allen fans over here at Bet India. In many ways he reminds us of that other great left-arm spin all-rounder that is Ravi Jadeja. A strike rate of 25 with the ball suggests he takes a wicket every four overs and he’s making a name for himself as a fine fielder.
But it’s his strike rate with the bat that really catches the eye. He may only have two fifties from 49 games in domestic T20 but that’s because he generally bats at seven or eight.
A strike rate of 155 is right up there with the Kieron Pollards and Andre Russells of this world and anyone who can score that quickly is always going to be a menace. It’s not for nothing that he’s become a key member of the West Indies’ T20 side of late, contributing in all three disciplines.
I expect him to do the same here for his CPL team.
Game-Changer: Evin Lewis
I could easily have picked Chris Gayle here. Few can change a game on its head like him. But then again, it’s very rare the veteran Jamaican-born opener turns it on these days. So instead I’ll go with his successor and the man who considers Gayle his mentor.
Evin Lewis is yet to play a Test but has made a huge impact for the Windies in limited-overs cricket. An average of 36 in ODIs is pretty good but 32 (relatively speaking) in T20Is is even better. And bettered only, by an insane strike rate of 158.
His 45 T20Is have yielded 9 fifties and two centuries, proof that when well set, he tends to kick on and get a proper score. In domestic T20 he’s struck four centuries and a highly impressive 33 fifties and can play both the patient game at times, to go with the explosive one.
If he and Gayle can get the team off to some good starts, that could make all the difference. Lewis himself could well be a good bet in the top runscorer betting market.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots FAQs
No. The best they ever managed in six attempts was a runner-up spot in 2017, when they made the final against the Trinbago Knight Riders but lost in a low-scoring match.
They play at the Warner Park Sporting Complex, a venue also boasting a football pitch, tennis courts and facilities for other sports.
It’s Australian Simon Helmot. He was formerly a coach at the Melbourne Renegades up until 2015 and he recently joined the Chittagong Vikings in the BPL.
Yes, he does. Veteran opening batsman Chris Gayle played for the Patriots during the 2017 and 2018 seasons before joining the Jamaica Tallawahs, whom he left in 2019. He then returned to the Patriots ahead of the 2021 season.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Fun Facts
- They were the first CPL expansion team, replacing the Antigua Hawksbills in 2015.
- 2020 was a particularly poor season, even by their standards. They only won one match all season in 10 attempts, inevitably finishing bottom.
- Evin Lewis is their top run scorer with 1466 runs, almost double what the next best has- Devon Thomas, who hit 763.
- Chris Gayle is in his second spell at the team, having also played there in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
What we like about SK&N Patriots
- Opening partnership of Gayle and Lewis could be deadly if they get going.
- A trio of quality overseas bowlers in Hasaranga, Jaggesar and Nortje looks potent.
- Gayle, Bravo and Emrit are all extremely experienced campaigners with 100s of T20 games between them.
What we don’t like about SK&N Patriots
- Dismal record in the competition over the years.
- Could be sloppy in the field with a few ageing bodies.
- Not too much batting power beyond the openers.
